I was born in Manchester in 1961 – a vintage year! I attended Stretford Grammar School 1972 – 1979. In 1981 I started a degree in Politics and History at Preston Polytechnic (now grandly titled the University of Central Lancashire). I graduated in 1984, and did a variety of jobs until moving to Doncaster to study a postgrad diploma in Personnel Management in 1986.
The following year I moved to Bromley to become a Personnel & Training Officer for Bromley Health Authority. In 1989 I joined the BBC and became a specialist HR professional concentrating on Job Evaluation and related issues.
My job title changed many times in the following 18 years – though my job didn’t (my level of responsibility did). In 2006, I left the BBC. I had to decide what to do having left the corporate world – but I knew it wasn’t going to be HR related! And I knew I had to enjoy it – which ultimately led to photography in general and wedding photography in particular. For the first time, I think I experience genuine job satisfaction – when a bride tells how much they love my images, and I know I have achieved something special!
I still follow Manchester United – and get to the odd match when I can – but Old Trafford is some distance! I share my life and passions with a wonderful wife, Jutinder (whom I met at Preston Polytechinic) and 2 wonderful daughters, Ceris and Rianne. Aside from photography, music is an abiding passion – and my current hero is Joe Bonamassa (awesome as the Americans like to say). My goal is to photograph as well as Joe plays the guitar… Favourite quotes include: “It doesn’t matter whether you are rich or poor, as long as you have money…”
I am a member of the SWPP (Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers) and BNI (Business Network International) the most successful networking organisation in the world.
